We are a busy dog daycare and boarding facility in Troy looking for part-time candidates to join our team! We offer a flexible schedule, year-end bonus for all employees, overtime pay for holidays and free daycare and boarding for your dog. Paid-time off is offered to full-time employees. Hourly wage starts at $14 an hour but is based on experience in the pet industry. Must be 18 or older to apply. Minimum of a high school diploma is required.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Interact with individual and groups of dogs in healthy off-leash play to help them get exercise, socialization and love with the goal of sending them home tired and happy. Will start with small dogs and move up to working with our larger, more active breeds of dogs.
- Interact with human customers including answering questions and communications about their dog’s day or stay.
- Recognize the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behaviors while the dogs are playing, as well as giving positive reinforcement for good behavior.
- Keeping the facility clean, which will include but is not limited to disposing of dog waste, mopping/sweeping/disinfecting the facility while adhering to company standards and safety protocol.
- Basic grooming i.e. bathing, nail trim, brushing.
- Preparing meals and feeding dogs.
Requirements:
- Shifts are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and 7:00am-7:00PM. Two or three shifts per week for a total of 16 - 24 hours. Weekends are required (two - three Saturdays or Sundays per month).
- Completion of 10 - 12 hours of paid online training as well as on-the-job training.
- You must have a passion for dogs but also like their humans too.
- The health and safety of our customer’s pets and our employees is our top priority. You must be fast on your feet, be able to read canine body language and be comfortable cleaning up poop.
- Have a calm and friendly demeanor.
- Confidence working with dogs of all breeds and sizes in an off-leash environment.
- Experience in teaching basic commands to a dog.
- Prefer experience in one or more of the following areas is a bonus: Dog Daycare Center, Dog Training, Kennel Management, Veterinary Services, or Rescue Organization.
- Customer Service experience.
- Able to be physically active for 8 – 10 hours at a time including bending, stooping, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with no restrictions and be able to listen to dogs barking for many hours at a time.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Committed to coming to work on time every time.

- - Administer medications or treatments as directed by pet owners or veterinarians- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment by regularly cleaning kennels, play areas, and common spaces- Monitor dogs for any signs of illness or injury and report any concerns to the appropriate staff member- Assist with feeding and providing fresh water to dogs as needed- Interact with pet owners and provide excellent customer serviceExperience:
- - Previous experience working with animals, particularly dogs, is preferred
- - Knowledge of basic pet care and handling techniques
- - Familiarity with dog behavior and body language
- - Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently
- - Experience in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter is a plus
- - Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with pet owners in a professional mannerSkills:
- - Pet care: Knowledge of proper feeding, grooming, exercise, and overall care for dogs
- - Veterinary: Understanding of basic medical procedures and treatments for animals
- - Heavy lifting: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects such as bags of dog food or crates
- - Pet grooming: Proficiency in basic grooming tasks such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming
- - Animal handling: Skill in safely handling animals to prevent injury or escape
- - Veterinary technician: Experience or training as a veterinary technician is a plus
- - Animal care: Ability to provide attentive care to animals' physical and emotional needs
- - Dog training: Knowledge of basic dog training techniques is beneficial
- - Animal restraint: Ability to safely restrain animals during grooming or medical procedures if necessary
