JOB PURPOSE:

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functions of the HR Department, including recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, leave administration, workers compensation, and HRIS (Paylocity) management. This role is also involved in employee relations, monitoring and maintaining compliance, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HRG assesses and anticipates HR-related needs, communicating those needs proactively to develop practical and comprehensive solutions. The position formulates strong partnerships across the Company to deliver value-added service to management and team members in an effort to positively influence organizational performance and results. Provides a high level of customer service, overseeing and coordinating HR programs, assisting in process improvement efforts, and resolving HR-related issues in a timely and professional manner. The HRG reports to the Senior Director, Human Resources.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and manage employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries, eligibility, and claims issues.
  • Ensure benefits compliance with federal and state regulations, including ACA, FMLA, and ERISA.
  • Work closely with the Finance and Payroll teams to ensure accurate benefits deductions, approve pending employee changes, create additional rates, and add pay cards as needed.
  • Manage and maintain the HRIS (Paylocity), ensuring accurate employee data entry and updates.
  • Assist with HRIS reporting and data analysis.
  • Performs weekly, monthly, annual compliance reporting.
  • Troubleshoot HRIS issues and collaborate with the HRIS vendor to resolve technical problems.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers regarding workplace issues, concerns, and conflict resolution.
  • Investigate and address employee grievances, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
  • Attends employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, as needed.
  • Maintain confidential documentation and records of employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions and investigations.
  • Manage new hire offer process and onboarding of new team members while ensuring compliance of federal and state regulations.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Assists in benchmarking existing positions to ensure competitive compensation.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements and efficiency in HR systems, programs, services, and initiatives.
  • Supports and assists in the development of HR programs designed to increase employee engagement and promote an effective work environment.
  • Oversees Leave of Absence process and manages process with third party vendors.
  • Creates, implements, and updates HR forms, processes and procedures as needed and for process improvement and streamlining.
  • Handles staff inquiries, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Manages Centec security system to ensure proper location access to team members.
  • Assists with team member offboarding.
  • Partners with Equifax on employment verifications, unemployment claims, etc.
  • Oversees worker’s compensation claims with third party vendor.
  • Schedules and conducts exit interviews, as needed.
  • Oversees maintenance of HR platforms and systems, including HR SharePoint.
  • Support culture initiatives by preparing certificates, bonuses, assigning team member dining cards, and assisting in preparation and execution of team member events.
  • Ensures HR practices are consistent with business objectives, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, reporting requirements and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law (EEO, ERISA, OSHA, FLSA).
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducts research; develops and organizes information; fulfills transactions.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High level understanding of human resource concepts, programs, processes, and policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • High level of critical and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional multi-tasking, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Able to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; HRIS, Payroll, Talent Management, and Benefit Administration systems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Previous human resource management experience, with a minimum of three years at the generalist level.
  • Experience with HRIS, ATS Payroll and Benefits Administration Systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
  • Sitting for extended periods while working at a computer or attending meetings.
  • Frequently standing, walking, and moving within the office or facility.
  • Light lifting (up to 15-20lbs) for tasks such as handling office supplies, files, or event materials.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Clear verbal and written communication for meetings, presentations, and employee interactions.
  • Clear hearing and active listening to effectively communicate with team members, leadership, and external partners in person, over the phone, or via virtual meetings.
  • Ability to occasionally travel between locations if supporting multiple sites.
