Job Purpose
The purpose of the Prep Cook position is to provide essential support to the kitchen team by accurately preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the timely and efficient execution of food preparation tasks. Working under the guidance of chefs and line cooks, the Prep Cook is responsible for washing, chopping, measuring, and organizing ingredients, preparing basic dishes, and assisting in maintaining proper inventory levels.

Working under the guidance of chefs and line cooks, the Prep Cook is responsible for washing, chopping, measuring, and organizing ingredients, preparing basic dishes, and assisting in maintaining proper inventory levels.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepares menu items according to standard recipes, plate presentations and specifications in a timely manner.
- Sets up workstation according to station diagram and daily product inventory to Chef’s standards.
- Completes all assigned prep work to Chefs standards.
- Maintains product presentation, product quality and cook time standards.
- Negotiates narrow crowded aisles with hot and cold food products.
- Cleans and sanitizes the work area before, during and after shift.
- Practices sanitary and safe food handling always.
- Completes assigned daily and weekly cleaning projects.
- Performs side work before, during and after shift as has ended.
- Assist other team members with unit stations and management as needed.
- Assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
- Present professional demeanor in attire, language, and attitude.
Requirements
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, changing environment.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety.
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn food-handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and quickly.
- Must be able to work well as part of a team.
- Must be able to work well under pressure.
- Ability to maintain personal cleanliness.
- 1-2 years of culinary experience preferred
- 1 year of fine dining experience highly preferred.
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety, preferred.
- Full - time applicants must have the minimum of 4 days of availability
- Weekend availability required (If applying for part-time, must have a 1 of 3 weekend days available (Fri, Sat, Sun))
- Seasonal hires must have the ability to commit the minimum of 3 months
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle and feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
- Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
