We’re looking for a driven and knowledgeable individual to manage our Hard Goods Department.
Position Overview:The Hard Goods Department Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the camp, ski, outdoor equipment department, including sales, inventory organization and management, and customer service. This role requires a strong leader with a deep knowledge of outdoor equipment products and a commitment to providing an outstanding shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the department, ensuring a well-organized and visually appealing sales floor and back room.
- Have ongoing communication with hard goods buyer to ensure proper inventory levels and styles, communicating trends and overall needs of the department.
- Monitor department sales and performance, setting goals and implementing strategies to meet or exceed targets.
Customer Experience:
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service, assisting customers with finding the right footwear for their needs.
- Resolve customer issues and concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Develop and maintain strong product knowledge to provide expert advice and recommendations.
Department Leadership:
- Mentor department staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance feedback.
- Encourage ongoing learning and development for team members to enhance their product knowledge and sales skills.
Merchandising & Sales:
- Implement effective merchandising strategies to showcase products, drive sales and maximize profit.
- Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
- Plan and execute promotional events, sales, and product launches to increase department visibility and engagement.
Inventory Management:
- Conduct regular inventory counts and audits to ensure accuracy and minimize shrinkage.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous retail management experience, preferably in outdoor gear.
- Comprehensive knowledge of outdoor brands and products preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proven track record of achieving sales and profitability goals.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
