What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visual Merchandiser / Assistant Buyer position at The Base Camp?
Are you passionate about curating beautiful displays and selecting the perfect products to inspire customers? The Base Camp is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly organized Merchandiser / Assistant Buyer to join our Gift Department team!
As a key player in our buying and merchandising process, you will work closely with the buying team to ensure our gift selection is fresh, exciting, and aligned with our customers' needs. You’ll use your keen eye for design, attention to detail, and love of organization to create visually compelling displays that enhance the customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in product selection and buying decisions for the Gift Department, ensuring a well-curated and profitable assortment.
- Work closely with vendors and suppliers to place orders, track shipments, and manage inventory levels in both store locations.
- Merchandize the sales floor by creating eye-catching and well-organized displays that drive sales and enhance the shopping experience.
- Monitor product performance and sales trends, providing insights and recommendations to the buying team.
- Ensure accurate product pricing, tagging, and signage.
- Maintain stock levels and assist with restocking and inventory management.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to support promotional campaigns and in-store events.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting customers with gift selections and product inquiries.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and new product offerings to keep our selection fresh and exciting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in merchandising, retail buying, or inventory management preferred.
- Strong visual merchandising skills with an eye for aesthetics and detail.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to analyze sales reports and identify trends.
- Passion for the outdoors and The Base Camp’s mission is a plus!
