Position Summary: The Sewer and Drain Technician will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, servicing, repairing, and mapping sewers and storm drainage systems. This role includes diagnosing issues, providing effective solutions, complete documentation of findings, and ensuring systems are functioning properly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of sewer and storm drainage systems to identify issues and potential problems.
- Use specialized equipment (cameras, locators, snakes, sewer jets, etc.) to diagnose blockages, leaks, and other issues within the drainage systems.
- Provide detailed reports on findings and recommended solutions.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on sewer and storm drainage systems to prevent issues and extend system life.
- Clear blockages, identify potential issues, and replace damaged components.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations and standards.
Installation:
- Perform basic repairs to storm drainage systems according to specifications and best practices.
- Work with other team members to ensure installations are completed efficiently and correctly.
- Test systems to ensure they are functioning properly after installation.
Customer Service:
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, solutions, and preventative measures.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Educate clients on proper maintenance and care of their drainage systems.
Health and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to protect yourself and others on the job site.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure safe operation of tools and equipment.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including inspections, repairs, and installations in online customer record software
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for clients and company records.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Suggest improvements to processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in plumbing or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Proven experience in sewers and storm drainage systems maintenance, repair, and installation.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with tools and equipment used in sewer and drain work.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials.
- Comfort working in confined spaces and outdoor environments.
- Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
