As a Sawmill Unscrambler, you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our sawmill. Your primary responsibility will be to sort and arrange lumber products to ensure smooth processing and delivery. You will work closely with other team members to maintain an organized work environment, monitor equipment, and ensure the quality and accuracy of the lumber produced.
Primary Duties:
- Sort and arrange lumber pieces according to size, type, and grade to facilitate smooth processing and minimize delays.
- Operate and maintain unscrambling machinery and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Inspect lumber for defects or inconsistencies and make necessary adjustments to maintain high-quality standards.
- Monitor lumber inventory levels and report discrepancies or needs for replenishment to management.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on unscrambling equipment as needed. Report major issues to the maintenance team.
- Maintain accurate records of lumber sorting and processing activities, including any issues encountered and resolutions implemented.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a sawmill or similar industrial setting is preferred, but not required. Training will be provided.
- Basic mechanical skills and the ability to operate machinery.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and commitment to following all safety regulations.
