What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lowboy Driver position at The Beaver Companies?
This position will be required to safely load and secure heavy equipment to be moved from one location to another: specifically, to and from job sites within 4 hours from our main office in Canton, Ohio.
Essential Functions:
- Operates a lowboy for transporting heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, etc.
- Maintains vehicle safety in traffic situations and all other safety policies and procedures set by the company.
- Operates various types of heavy equipment to be able to load and off-load on lowboy trailer.
- Conducts pre-trip inspection checklist on operating equipment such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Carries out detailed instructions, takes directions to job sites, but must also use good judgement in decision-making to work autonomously, without direct supervision.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Required:
- 5 years of experience in hauling heavy equipment with permit loads that require escorts for: over width, over length, over height, and overweight
- Class A CDL
- Hazmat endorsement
- Tanker endorsement
- Preferred:
- OSHA 10 – Required within 2 weeks after date of hire
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
