What You Bring To The Table
Beck is looking for a qualified Preconstruction Engineer to join an extraordinary project team. While this is an entry-level role, you will be involved in many facets of construction with the ability to evolve our existing operations. As the Preconstruction Engineer, you will support the team leader on preconstruction duties and responsibilities. This position will be under the supervision of a Senior Preconstruction Engineer or higher.
The Job Involves The Following Essential Functions
A person with the willingness to learn and be mentored under talented Senior Preconstruction Managers while also having a comprehensive understanding of building construction, excellent time management skills, a passion to get things done, and possess uncompromising authenticity and integrity. An individual with an interest in the integrated project delivery method and an interest in being innovative in process improvement and technology will be an ideal candidate for this position.

Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; frequently ascends/descends ladders and stairs; constantly works in various outdoor weather conditions; frequently moves equipment up to 50Ibs to various locations on site; constantly communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and other members of project team; ability to constantly move around job site on uneven surfaces; Spends much of the day standing. Ability to adhere to consistent and timely attendance.

The Job Involves The Following Essential Functions
- Understand Beck's Best Practices
- Provide accurate quantity takeoffs and initial pricing
- Able to independently estimate Interior, Envelope, and Site Scopes of work with minimal direction and understand applicable Specification sections.
- Able to organize and develop an estimate using UniFormat, CSI, and Bid Tabulation
- Develop and maintain project documents
- Comfortable command of preconstruction technologies such as DESTINI Estimator, Revit, BIM360, & Procore, as well as adjacent technologies such as MS Office suite and Bluebeam.
- Perform Beck Bid Day process accurately and reliably
- Interact successfully and in a professional manner with subcontractors / vendors
- Conduct themselves professionally and represent the organization well
- Effective time management skills
- Develop a basic understanding of overhead, fee, and insurance add-ons

You Also Meet The Following Requirements
- 0-3 years of relevant construction experience AND:
- College graduate with a relevant degree
- OR relevant experience in field construction operations and have committed to obtaining a relevant degree
- Internship with architectural or commercial construction company preferred but not required
- Fundamental understanding of project documents
- Technical proficiency with MS Office Suite and some level of exposure to various preconstruction technologies
- Experience with 3D model-based applications such as Revit, BIM360, Navisworks, Sketchup, and/or DESTINI Estimator is a plus.
