Behavioral Specialist II

We are seeking a dedicated Behavioral Specialist II to join our team and provide networking, case management, and advocacy services to clients in need.
Job Summary
The Behavioral Specialist II is responsible for supporting clients in admissions, benefits and financial affairs, vocational training, housing, legal affairs, and access to community resources. This role is an essential part of the multidisciplinary treatment team, working to ensure that clients receive the necessary services to aid their rehabilitation and long-term wellness.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial client interviews and assessments.
- Provide one-on-one support and counseling.
- Accompany clients to court appearances, medical appointments, and other necessary engagements.
- Complete progress reports for submission to courts and agencies.
- Advocate for clients and help them access community support services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with referring agencies.
- Lead group therapy sessions as assigned by the Program Director.
- Assist clients in vocational training and job readiness programs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Manage a complex caseload, ensuring all client needs are addressed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR).
- Provide family support services to aid in treatment and recovery.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Complete 25 hours of training annually related to behavioral health services.
- Provide consultation and support to other Behavioral Specialists.
Qualifications

Education:
- Master’s degree in human services, Social Work, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Education, or a related field.

Experience:
- At least three (3) years of experience in mental health, substance use treatment, or criminal justice.
- Experience with case management, advocacy, and behavioral health interventions preferred.

Certifications:
- Licensed or certified professionals (LPC, LSW, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Must be a member of at least one professional organization.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health treatment methods and case management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong ability to manage crises and provide effective intervention strategies.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in all client matters.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Requires sitting for extended periods in an office or treatment setting.
- Frequent computer use and documentation with attention to detail.
- May involve lifting and transporting materials up to 10 lbs.
- Potential exposure to environmental hazards and contagious diseases in client areas.
- Must be able to effectively communicate via phone and in-person interactions.
