Community Recovery Specialist – Behavioral Health / Peer Support / Addiction Recovery
Location: Philadelphia, PA

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Starting Pay: $19.50 per hour

Position Summary
The Community Recovery Specialist (CRS) provides peer-based support to individuals engaged in intensive outpatient and outpatient behavioral health programs. This includes 1:1 peer counseling, group facilitation, recovery support, and one year of post-treatment follow-up.
The CRS also plays a critical role in outreach, client engagement, and reentry planning for individuals transitioning back into the community from incarceration or inpatient care.
This full-time role offers a Monday through Friday daytime schedule (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) and is ideal for candidates with lived recovery experience or prior behavioral health experience.
Responsibilities
Provide daily individual peer counseling during treatment and post-discharge
Facilitate and co-lead recovery-focused groups
Conduct outreach via phone, home visits, and mail
Lead orientation and recovery education for new admissions
Provide reentry transition planning for individuals being released from prison
Use motivational interviewing and de-escalation techniques when needed
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Monitor urine collection, support behavior modeling, and document observations
Attend staff meetings and collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team
Qualifications
Education & Certification
High school diploma or GED (Required)
Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) or Certified Peer Specialist (Required within 90 days of hire)
12 college credits in Behavioral Health or Human Services preferred
Experience & Skills
Lived experience in recovery preferred
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Required)
Familiarity with 12-Step programs (AA/NA)
Proficient with computers and Electronic Health Records (EHR)
Strong communication, engagement, and documentation skills
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
