We are currently seeking a Security Sergeant to join our team and help maintain a safe and secure environment for our patients, employees, and visitors.
Job Summary
The Security Sergeant is responsible for supervising, monitoring, and providing protection for hospital buildings, premises, employees, patients, and visitors. This position reports directly to the Security Director and serves as a key point of contact for safety-related matters on assigned shifts.
This part-time position requires flexibility, with various shifts available and offers eligibility for a shift differential based on hours worked.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor security personnel to ensure the safety of hospital buildings and premises.
- Conduct security patrols, incident investigations, and emergency responses as needed.
- Provide protection for employees, patients, and visitors while ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
- Maintain direct communication with the Security Director, reporting all activities, concerns, and incidents.
- Ensure compliance with hospital security policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Assist in emergency situations, de-escalations, and crisis interventions as required.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (required).

Licensure & Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license required.
- ACT 235 certification preferred (or graduate of an accredited police academy).

Experience:
- Security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
- Background in Criminal Justice or hospital security is a plus.
- Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage security personnel effectively.
- Ability to assess and respond to security threats, incidents, and emergencies.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and decision-making ability.
- Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Requires standing, walking, and patrolling hospital premises for extended periods.
- Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies, physically intervene when necessary, and handle potentially high-stress situations.
- Potential exposure to hazardous situations and challenging environments.
