Summary: The Mechatronics Technician assembles, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies current and developmental machinery utilizing electronic and pneumatic components, custom fabricated parts, smart technologies and robotic systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Discusses layout and assembly procedures to identify potential issues with the Engineering team and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria
- Assists in the development and assembly of machinery with the integration of smart technologies
- Assembles experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model
- Recommends changes in installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance
- Sets up standard test apparatuses or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model
- Analyzes and interprets test data
- Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and/or modifies circuitry and components, and records effects on unit performance
- Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate systems operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations
- Programs and maintains robotics and PLCs
- Checks function of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions
- Possesses knowledge of pneumatic components, actuators, servos, steppers, AC/DC motors and control systems
- Follows all safety procedural guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision
