Overview
We are seeking an Instrument and Controls Technician for assignment in Tucson, Arizona. The selected candidate will be located in a Central Utility Plant that provides all utilities (electric, gas, water, potable, water) and processes raw sewage for 23 client buildings.
Hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 2:30pm
** This position has a pay rate of $30 - $35/hr **
Responsibilities
- Install, calibrate and configure various industrial instruments including pressure, temperature, level, flow and analytical transmitters, control valves, positioners and other related devices
- Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical components of instrumentation systems
- Utilize various test equipment such as multimeters, loop calibrators, pressure calibrators and various types of electronics to perform diagnostics and calibrations
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, loop diagrams and P&IDs
- Document all maintenance, calibration, and repair activities accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist in the development and implementation of new instrumentation and control systems
- Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, operators and other maintenance personnel to resolve issues and improve system performance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge
- Participate in team building activities and events
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- A valid Driver's License
- 3 years of direct hands-on experience working with industrial instrumentation, low voltage communications, electronics and electrical control systems in an industrial environment
- A fundamental understanding of electrical systems, AC/DC circuits and electronics
- The ability to calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot various types of process instruments using appropriate test equipment (multimeters, loop calibrators, pressure calibrators)
- Competency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs
- Knowledge of lockout/tagout
- Familiarity with PLC's and SCADA
- Familiarity with measurement techniques, control loop theory and different types of industrial instruments (pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical)
