Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and adaptable Elementary Math Teacher for grades 3-5 to join our passionate team. This educator will play a key role in shaping students' mathematical understanding while fostering a growth mindset, promoting collaboration, and integrating innovative teaching strategies. The ideal candidate will be excited to bring joy and energy to math instruction, utilizing tools like i-Ready to support differentiated learning and contribute to a positive, fun, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement dynamic and engaging math lessons for students in grades 3-5, focusing on foundational concepts and fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Incorporate growth mindset principles, encouraging students to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes, and celebrate perseverance.
- Use i-Ready curriculum and assessments to track student progress and adjust instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, ensuring each student can reach their full potential.
- Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes collaboration, creativity, and innovation.
- Engage students through hands-on activities, real-world problem-solving, and technology integration, making math fun and relatable.
- Foster a culture of joy and enthusiasm for learning by bringing positive energy into your teaching style.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff in a STEM-focused environment to integrate cross-disciplinary learning experiences.
- Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, providing feedback and progress updates in a timely and constructive manner.
- Attend professional development opportunities to continue growing as an educator and stay current on best practices in teaching math and STEM education.
- Assume the role of homeroom teacher for a class of elementary students, providing support and guidance throughout the school day.
- Create and implement engaging social studies lessons aligned with the state’s Model Learning Standards (MLS), focusing on building students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field
- Valid teaching certification in Elementary Education is required
- Experience teaching elementary school math, with a preference for experience in grades 3-5
- Familiarity with the i-Ready curriculum and its ability to differentiate instruction based on student needs
- A growth mindset with the ability to adapt and innovate in teaching practices
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to create meaningful relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- A sense of humor and the ability to bring joy, creativity, and enthusiasm to your lessons
- Passion for STEM education and a desire to work in a collaborative, forward-thinking school environment
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Ability to work in a school environment with students and staff
- Frequent use of computer systems, phones, and other office equipment
- Occasional lifting of supplies or materials (up to 25 lbs)
- Ability to move between classrooms, the Anchor Room, and various school areas
