Job Summary: The Kitchen Utility Worker plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and smooth operations within the kitchen and dining areas of the Bistro at Wallingford Country Club. This position supports kitchen staff by handling dishwashing, trash removal, managing incoming orders, setting up and breaking down banquet events, as well as running food and drinks to various locations on the premises.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dishwashing & Kitchen Cleaning:
- Operate dishwashing equipment efficiently to clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen tools.
- Ensure kitchen and dining areas are kept clean, including countertops, floors, and equipment.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of storage areas and kitchen appliances.
- Adhere to safety and sanitation standards to prevent contamination or accidents.
- Trash and Waste Removal:
- Collect and dispose of trash from kitchen and dining areas in a timely and sanitary manner.
- Maintain trash areas, ensuring proper sorting and recycling where applicable.
- Regularly check and empty trash bins to maintain cleanliness.
- Banquet Event Setup and Breakdown:
- Assist in setting up and breaking down for banquet and special events, including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and serving equipment.
- Collaborate with event staff to ensure the smooth flow of events and provide necessary support as directed.
- Food and Beverage Runner:
- Deliver food and drinks from the kitchen to various areas of the Country Club, including the Pro Shop, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor when interacting with guests, offering assistance as needed.
- Work with the kitchen and wait staff to ensure orders are accurately delivered and presented.
- Managing Orders & Deliveries:
- Receive and manage incoming orders, ensuring all items are accounted for and organized for easy access.
- Unload deliveries, check orders against invoices, and ensure that all items are delivered as per the order.
- Inspect deliveries for quality and accuracy, reporting any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
- Properly store food and supplies in designated areas, following all safety and sanitation guidelines for food storage.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist in checking inventory levels and help manage stock, ensuring the kitchen and dining areas are fully stocked with necessary supplies.
- Organize inventory and assist with the restocking of items as needed.
- Report low inventory or discrepancies in stock to management for timely replenishment.
- General Support:
- Assist other kitchen and service staff with various tasks as needed.
- Ensure all areas are stocked with necessary supplies and report low inventory to management.
- Provide support during peak times to ensure the kitchen and dining areas run smoothly.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or similar role preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of sanitation and safety standards is beneficial.
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks (standing, bending, lifting, etc.) throughout the shift.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, especially for managing orders and deliveries.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and take initiative when needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks safely.
