The Black Dog Tavern Company LLC is seeking an experienced and motivated General Manager to lead The Black Dog Tavern Company’s restaurant and bakery operations. The General Manager will possess a demonstrated passion for hospitality, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in restaurant management.
General Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in hospitality or restaurant management
- 5 years’ prior management experience in a high volume, full-service and quick-service restaurant environment
- Availability to work days, nights and weekends
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Plan, organize and execute events including conceptualizing ideas to managing logistics while ensuring a successful event experience for clients and guests
- Proficiency with financial management and budgeting
- Actively support a culture of safety which includes food safety, team member safety and customer safety as well as HACCP procedures
- Wine, spirits, and beer knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with guests and employees at all levels
- Proficiency with TOAST POS system
- Possess or obtain SERV Safe Food Manager, Alcohol certification, MA Allergen Awareness Certification, and TIPS Certification
- Working knowledge of all equipment, maintenance and operation including liquor and soda dispensing equipment, and beer systems
- Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs.
- Requires the physical ability to stand for long periods of time, walk frequently, bend, squat or reach

- Oversee daily operations of our full-service restaurant and bakery locations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
- Order food, beverage and alcohol supplies for restaurant and bakery locations
- Open availability with a strong consistent floor presence
- Manage and train staff with a focus on a positive and productive environment
- Monitor financial performance, including budgets, cost control, and revenue management
- Attract and retain customers; handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional manner
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service
- Collaborate with all kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless operations
- Follow and ensure team member compliance with all health, safety, food handling and hygiene standards
