The Blake School is seeking an experienced Elementary School Guidance Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a student advocate, working closely with colleagues and external organizations to promote the healthy development of children and families in our community.
This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting students' social-emotional growth and academic success. As an Elementary School Guidance Specialist, you will provide short-term individual and small-group counseling, classroom guidance, and social/emotional learning lessons.
You will also consult with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive support. Additionally, you will maintain relationships with qualified therapists and community agencies, providing referrals and serving as a liaison between the school and outside resources.
As a member of our Lower School student support team, you will play a key role in crafting meaningful interventions and implementing support services. Your expertise in child and early adolescent development will be invaluable in guiding faculty and staff on topics such as behavior management, mental health, and building resilience in children.
We are looking for someone with previous lower school counseling experience, a licensed school counselor or advanced degree in counseling psychology, and excellent communication skills. You should be knowledgeable about elementary-age children's developmental stages and positive identity formation frameworks.
