Position Overview
The CDL Trainer/Fleet Coordinator is responsible for CDL drivers and training. This role provides support by supervising and directing all bus drivers, providing classroom instruction, behind the wheel training, establishing training requirements, and identifying training deficits. This position is also responsible for scheduling maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles.
Essential Functions
Conducts classroom and behind-the-wheel bus driver training for the purpose of presenting, reinforcing, and/or developing bus driver skills
Evaluates performance of bus drivers and trainees for the purpose of ensuring that basic skills levels are met
Informs bus drivers and trainees of rules, regulations, laws, procedures, etc. for the purpose of providing information, requesting follow-up action, and/or implementing procedures
Evaluates driving performance of bus drivers (e.g. checks driver’s usage of vehicle equipment, handling of on the road situations, interactions with students, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safe and proper operations of the bus
Investigates accidents within the department involving buses and fleet vehicles for the purpose of improving procedures and complying with established guidelines
Participates in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and /or gathering information required to perform job functions
Schedules training and testing as necessary to maintain adequate staff of drivers
Reports problematic staff related findings to appropriate manager
Places facilities on-line ticket for any noted repairs needed
Coordinates scheduled maintenance and repairs on all fleet vehicles
Other duties as assigned or required
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver’s License and valid CDL Driver’s License with no major infractions and dependable transportation, CDL License with Air Brake Certification, CDL Third Party Examiner
Job related experience required
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the buses used by The Blood Connection
Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
