Position Overview
A Metrology Clerk is responsible for maintaining and performing QC checks and validations for various blood collection equipment/supplies. This role performs and documents various minor equipment repairs. A Metrology Clerk sorts and distributes incoming mail from collection centers to processing center. This role assists mobile staging department as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintains all minor equipment used in blood collection including Welch Allens, blood mixers, Hemocues, and digital scales
Performs periodic and annual QC on Welch Allens, Digimono 1000, weight sets, and probe testers
Orders all minor machines and re-orders parts as needed
Orders and documents whole blood unit numbers and coordinates with Team Leaders on ordering apheresis numbers
Performs QC and validates all copper sulfate orders
Maintains updated maintenance and QC paperwork on all minor equipment, as well as, validations, repairs, and instillations
Orders and documents asset tags for all company-wide minor equipment
Maintains organized workspace
Stages all supplies and minor equipment for daily collections
Ensures that all PODs meet minimum quantities of ancillary items and are replenished daily
Organizes and packs t-shirts according to requests on trip sheets
Restocks supplies on blood mobiles according to Mobile Supply Sheet requests
Orders required supplies and equipment through purchasing online ticket system (PROS)
Ensures rotation of supplies to prevent exceeding expiration dates
Oversees rotation of selected cleaning solution for Donor Services
Reports problematic staff related findings to appropriate manager
Reports equipment failures/issues to facilities for repairs needed
Performs QC checks on specified supplies prior to staff use
Other duties as assigned or required
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Job related experience preferred
Valid Driver’s License with no major infractions and dependable transportation
Excellent customer services skills
Understands and follows written and verbal instructions
Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
