POSITION TITLE:  University Aide - Mental Health Therapist, Staff Psychologist/Psychologist Candidate

COMPENSATION RANGE: 30.00 - 40.00 USD per hour

EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Temporary

DEPARTMENT: Counseling Center Operation

Position Summary:

Title of the role:  University Aide- Mental Health Therapist, Staff Psychologist/Psychologist Candidate, Counseling Center 
Rate of pay: $30-$40/hour range dependent on degree and licensure 
Schedule of role:  16-40 hours per week
Length of role’s duration: 6 to 9 months; start date as soon as possible

Job Duties:

  • Provide confidential clinical services, including mental health assessment, and individual, couples and group counseling to clients from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, religious, ability, sexual and gender identities.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and intervene effectively to manage mental health crisis needs
  • Must know state and national legal and ethical mental health codes 
  • May need to provide case management support to students you have assessed who need referrals
  • Must have basic word-processing, presentation, and e-mail computer skills and have ability to learn Microsoft Office programs  and use EMR 
  • Depending on licensure and need within the team may provide clinical supervision to others.  Will engage in consultation and staffing with Counseling Center team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MA or MS in counseling or counseling related profession (e.g. social work) and licensed/ license-eligible in the state of Colorado as a professional counselor or mental health license associated with degree and professional training.
  • One year of experience providing clinical services

Preferred qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D./Psy.D degree in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology
  • Licensed in the state of Colorado to provide clinical services 
  • Experience in a University Counseling Center or at an APA internship site

Employees at UNC receive sick leave, and other leave options may be available based on position. Full-time employees are eligible to receive tuition waiver benefits, as well as dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.

This position is contingent on funding from the Colorado State Legislature, approval by the Board of Trustees, and subject to the policies and regulations of the University of Northern Colorado.
