Location: The Boatyard Bar & Bistro, Ottawa, IL
Job Summary: The Boatyard Bar & Bistro, a vibrant new waterfront restaurant in Ottawa, IL, opening in April 2025, is seeking friendly and professional Wait Staff to join our team. As a member of our wait staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional hospitality to our guests ensuring a memorable dining experience. Hospitality is defined as the friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering top-notch customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional hospitality to all guests, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
- Present menus, answer questions, and make recommendations based on guests' preferences.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff.
- Serve food and beverages to guests promptly and courteously.
- Monitor guests’ dining experience and promptly address any issues or requests.
- Process payments and handle cash transactions accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized dining area, including resetting tables for the next guests.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up and breaking down service stations.
- Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure seamless service.
- Stay updated on menu offerings, specials, and restaurant promotions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as wait staff or in a similar customer service role. Willing to train the right candidate who shows an aptitude for exceptional hospitality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent service.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Must be available weekends, holidays, and most weekdays.
- Must have or obtain their Bassett certification.
