How your role fits into Boldt :

As Vice President of Construction Operations for The Boldt Company, you will serve in an active role providing direct leadership and oversight to Operational Enterprise Support Groups such as Project Delivery, Project Controls, Quality, Scheduling, Self Perform operations and Operational Excellence, as well as collaborating with operational leaders across the company to ensure the successful delivery and execution of work across the country. Working closely with our Enterprise support teams, Regional Safety leaders and other operational leaders, this role will work collaboratively to ensure that all projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the appropriate level of quality. In addition, you will be supporting efforts to ensure that all projects are performed in accordance with all applicable Standard Operating Practices (SOP’s) and Standard Work (SW). You will support The Boldt Company’s operational strategies and their relationship to the organization's mission, vision and values. You will provide leadership and clarity for the actions needed to implement our strategies, motivating and coaching our teams to do extraordinary things to achieve Boldt’s business goals.

What you get to do :

As the Vice President of Construction Operations for The Boldt Company, your time will be allocated in the following ways :

Construction Operations – 60%

  • Participate in OneBoldt strategies by supporting the development of operational plans and outcomes for the company. Collaborating with other Operations Leaders and Enterprise Support Groups, develop consistent metrics for measuring and evaluating the performance of projects across the company.
  • Develop, track, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) that are critical in helping the organization track progress towards our goals.
  • Work closely with construction delivery leaders and project teams to develop and monitor their Construction Readiness Programs which are to include comprehensive production plans ensuring that the proposed execution plan will meet or exceed the project objectives.
  • Support project planning efforts, ensuring they are well guided and that the team’s influence on the supply chain of individual scopes of work are well anchored and productive.
  • Support and often lead the planning and delivery of complex wide-ranging information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities.
  • Serve as a resource for project teams that are having difficulty achieving satisfactory results.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout the company by looking at all areas of the operations for opportunities to reduce waste and create process improvements.
  • Work with other operational leaders to ensure projects are properly staffed, and where appropriate, reallocate resources to improve project efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Operating Groups to build the spirit of OneBoldt.
  • Collaborate with all company staff and field operations to coordinate the successful execution of all projects.
  • Support monthly Project Execution Assessments (PEA) for all projects. Participate in monthly corporate PEA review meetings.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of our SOP’s and SW. Ensure these practices are adhered to at all levels.
  • Support the effort to ensure that positive labor relations are maintained in conjunction with corporate labor relations resources and all regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure proper project execution business practices are in place and being followed and monitored.

People Leadership - 35%

  • Collaborate with operations leaders across the company to identify and support Operations teams up to top management level, finding out their needs / issues / concerns and supporting these by leading the development of engagement plans to support the communication of business information and decisions.
  • Define a detailed organization structure for Operational support to align with OneBoldt principles, and to support Operating Groups / Divisions efforts to achieve their business objectives.
  • Support the development of long-term staffing plans including finding and developing talent for future growth.
  • Lead, coach, supervise, and mentor employees to attain their goals and the goals of the Boldt and our Operating Groups / Divisions.
  • Cultivate an environment where diversity, equity and inclusion are core beliefs and evident in our day-to-day behaviors
  • Actively engage in the recruitment, retention, development, and education of our teams. Complete employee performance reviews.
  • Demonstrate and coach around the following five virtues- Humble, Hungry (drives for vision, purpose and results), Smart (demonstrate a high level of Emotional intelligence including self-awareness and self-regulation), Reliable and Gritty.
  • Support, educate, and model what it means to be a relationship-based contractor in the way we interact with every member of our team and in the way that we resolve our differences.
  • Business Development – 5%

  • When necessary, collaborate with operating groups to develop and gain agreement for annual Operating Group or Division strategic plans, ensuring alignment with OneBoldt strategies.
  • Work alongside operating groups to support their initiatives as they identify new markets and develop teams to reach their sales goals.
  • Support operating groups as they develop new opportunities with new and existing customers and build and maintain personal working relationships with them.
  • Represent Boldt in a variety of industry, institutional, and / or professional forums, boards,
  • and committees, in order to promote the Boldt’s brand and presence in the community and / or marketplace.

    What we expect from you :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Design or related field. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Fifteen years or more experience in Construction, Design, Scheduling, Cost Control, and Management.
  • Technical expertise on how projects are constructed.
  • Ability to communicate across a wide range of individuals from craft workers to trade partners and designers to customer executives.
  • Possess a broad understanding of successful project delivery including financial data, production planning, and lean process improvement techniques, as well as maintaining a good working relationship with all team members to ensure the success and well-being of all.
  • Apply innovative management techniques to inspire and empower teams to produce desired results. Success in this role is accomplishing a successful work result through others.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Boldt and industry practices.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required. Individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check. The outcome of any MVR checks conducted may negatively impact the persons’ ability to participate in any vehicle program provided by the company, including but not limited to the ability to drive a personal vehicle on behalf of The Boldt Company or rent a vehicle through for business travel purposes.
  • Physical requirements and working conditions :

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for up to eight hours. The employee occasionally is required to move to access people or workspaces. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer. The ability to optimally communicate is required. The employee may occasionally move up to 15 pounds.

    The working condition of this position requires the employee to work inside an office environment. The environment for which this position functions may contain scents and fragrances. May be requested to work overtime and weekends.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $190,935 - $267,309 per year. This range represents what The Boldt Company reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered will be dependent upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to : candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, alignment with market data and internal equity as well as other business and organizational needs. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work at our Appleton, WI office. If the incumbent works out of a different location, the anticipated salary range is subject to change.
