Residential Instructor

JOB GOAL:   

Work under the guidance of the Division Directors and Assistant Directors, and Residential Program Director to implement the principles of Daily Life Therapy® and provide a safe and secure environment for the students.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Attend to the personal needs of the students while teaching daily living and social skills, in accordance with Daily Life Therapy®.
2. Create and maintain a safe educational environment for the students.
3. Develop a positive rapport with students within a group setting.
4. Document students’ daily performance.
5. Communicate effectively with Division Directors and other staff regarding student issues.
6. Assist in the development of educational assessments and Individual Educational Pprograms (IEP), including goals and objectives.
7. Maintain on-going communication with residential program staff and day program staff.
8. Participate in division meetings.
9. Perform as an educational role model for students.
10. Participate in all student activities, including extensive physical exercise and other various activities.
11. Strive to maintain an open and positive atmosphere within the organization.  This includes respect for the decisions of the administration and following directions, guidance and supervision of the Residential Program Director, Assistant Residential Directors, and Division Directors.
12. Attend all daily staff meetings and monthly in-service meetings
13. Develop knowledge of the day program and communicate with day program staff about student issues.
14. Familiarize oneself and adhere to policies and procedures of the Boston Higashi School.
15. Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with parents and staff.
16. Manage and oversee care of students’ personal belongings.
17. Create and maintain teaching materials as needed.
18. It is the expectation of the Boston Higashi School that all employees cooperate fully with all investigations and/or audits conducted internally or by other approved organizations and States.
19. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Residential Director, Assistant Directors, and Division Directors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in education, human services, behavioral sciences, or closet related field is  required for Afternoon/Evening shift.
• Must be able to work in a multicultural environment and possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess a positive and professional attitude and be able to communicate well with co-workers.
• Maintain a valid Driver’s license.
• Must possess computer skills
