What are the responsibilities and job description for the Occupational Therapist (temp) position at The Boston Home?
As a 96-bed community for adults with multiple sclerosis and other advanced neurological disorders, The Boston Home's population is younger and more stable than many care facilities, with residents often joining the community in mid-life and residing for 20 years.
The Occupational Therapist is responsible for assessment and treatment aimed at improving / maintaining functional abilities in adults with complex neurological conditions. They will evaluate and address both the individual's capacities and his / her environment in order to help the individual optimize their function and provide training in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology products.
Qualifications :
- Current MA licensure in Occupational Therapy
- 3 years of experience in assessment and treatment in a Skilled Nursing or Long Term Care Facility preferred
- Ability to practice independently in all appropriate domains within the scope of practice for OT in a skilled nursing facility environment
- Excellent written and oral English skills
- Previous experience with NetHealth Therapy and Sigmacare systems helpful but not required
- Ability to lift and move 50 pounds independently and 100 pounds with assistance
