This Physical Therapist (Seating and Mobility Specialist) is responsible for the assessment and treatment of all neurogenic musculoskeletal, functional mobility, integumentary, and post-surgical disorders in adults with complex neurological conditions.
Other responsibilities include:
Assessment and treatment of seated postural and support deficits
Ability to design effective and functional seating systems accommodating severe spasticity
Collaboration with other therapists and DME vendors to select the most appropriate seating and mobility equipment for clients
Submitting letters of medical necessity and ancillary documentation in order to secure funding for equipment
Knowledge of spasticity management, pressure mapping and relief strategies, bed and chair positioning options, and cardiopulmonary considerations for non-ambulatory individuals
Screening for additional functional deficits within the PT scope of practice
Development and timely documentation of medically necessary care plans
Communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to address specific needs and modifications for client
Qualifications:
Graduate from Doctor of Physical Therapy program since 2005 or appropriate entry-level degree prior to 2005
Current MA licensure in Physical Therapy
3+ years of experience in assessment and treatment of neurogenic mobility and musculoskeletal disorders
Current designation (or active pursuit of) as an Assistive Technology Professional as per current RESNA guidelines preferred
Ability to practice independently in all appropriate domains within the scope of practice for PT in a skilled nursing facility environment
Excellent written and oral English skills
Previous experience with NetHealth Therapy and Sigmacare systems helpful but not required
Ability to lift and move 50 pounds independently and 100 pounds with assistance
Experience or interest in supervising PTA and/or DPT student clinicians preferred
