Auto Body Technician
The primary responsibility of an Auto Body Technician is to provide exceptional customer service by thoroughly assessing and repairing vehicles to restore them to their pre-accident condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement the WOW plan consistently.
- Plan necessary repairs, prepare cost estimates for customers, and utilize tools like cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to fix vehicle sections.
- Hammmer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage if feasible; apply filler resins to repair dents when other methods are not possible.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged vehicle sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts; repair or replace glass and windshields as needed.
- Repair or replace interior parts as required.
- Weld and attach or fit parts into place; repaint vehicles using factory-specified paint or equivalent agreed upon.
- Complete work orders within labor time guidelines; inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct execution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read job orders and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate with other repairers in an auto body shop.
- In-depth understanding of methods and procedures for repairing vehicle bodies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tool usage required for the trade.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
