Pastor of Arts and Worship (Full Time)
Summary
The Bethel Church is seeking an inspiring and visionary Pastor of Arts and Worship
to lead our dynamic and diverse worship ministry. As a thriving African American
congregation of over 5,000 members, we celebrate a rich tapestry of musical
expressions, including gospel, contemporary Christian, traditional hymns, jazz, and
R&B-infused worship. The ideal candidate is a spiritually grounded, creative, and
experienced leader with the ability to cultivate an atmosphere of authentic, Spirit-filled
worship while guiding and empowering a team of 200 volunteers and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Worship Leadership & Direction
- Develop and execute a comprehensive worship strategy that aligns with the church’s
mission, vision, and values.
- Plan and lead engaging Christ-centered worship experiences that reflect the diversity
of our congregation, including Sunday worship, funerals, and other special worship
experiences.
- Lead and cultivate a worship culture rooted in excellence, authenticity, and spiritual
growth.
- Incorporate various musical styles to create a worship experience that resonates
across diverse generations and backgrounds.
- Collaborate with the Senior Pastor to align worship themes with sermon series and
overall church initiatives.
Team Oversight & Development
- Provide spiritual leadership, mentorship, and development for a team of 200 ,
including musicians, vocalists, creative arts teams, and technical staff.
- Foster a culture of unity, collaboration, and excellence within the Arts and Worship
Ministry.
- Conduct regular rehearsals, team meetings, and workshops to enhance musical and
spiritual growth.
Creative Arts & Production
- Oversee the integration of creative arts (dance, drama, spoken word, visual arts, etc.)
into worship services and special events (i.e. Christmas, Easter, Black History).
- Work closely with production and media teams to ensure seamless execution of all
worship experiences.
- Lead the planning and execution of robust productions, concerts, and seasonal
worship events (e.g., Christmas, Easter, anniversaries).
- Stay informed on trends and technology in arts and worship to facilitate cutting-
edge, diverse, and meaningful worship experiences.
Administration & Stewardship
- Manage the Arts and Worship ministry budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of
resources.
- Establish systems and processes for scheduling, communication, and workflow
efficiency.
- Ensure all worship elements adhere to church policies, spiritual values, and sound
theology.
- Collaborate with other ministry leaders to support church-wide initiatives and events.
- Supervise the acquisition and maintenance of all technical, musical, and other Arts
and Worship Ministry equipment and software.
Qualifications and Competencies
Spiritual & Leadership Qualifications
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a vibrant personal faith and alignment with
the church’s core beliefs
- A heart for worship and a deep understanding of its role in the life of the church and
spiritual formation of the congregation
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and develop large teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for fostering relationships and unity
within the church body
Professional & Musical Qualifications
- Experience in worship leadership in a multi-faceted church environment
- Bachelor’s degree in music, worship arts, or a related field (preferred but not
required)
- Proficient in various musical styles, with an emphasis on gospel and contemporary
worship
- Strong vocal and instrumental skills; ability to lead choirs, praise teams, and band
- Experience with worship technology, including audio, lighting, and multimedia
production
- Skilled in music arrangement, vocal coaching, and band directing
- Proficient in worship technology, including Planning Center, ProPresenter, digital
audio workstations, and video production tools
- Has a minimum of five years of experience in a comparable role at a large African-
American church
