The Brearley School, an independent girls’ school serving over 770 students K-12, welcomes candidates for a full-time leave replacement position as a Teacher of Middle and Upper School Science from August 18 to November 3, 2025.

Responsibilities include:
teaching four courses in the science curriculum including ninth grade biology and physical science at the middle school level
implement an inclusive, anti-bias, anti-racist pedagogy
participating in and/or leading grade-level team planning meetings with Science colleagues
contributing to the life of the school and the students outside of the department
The ideal candidate will:
have a bachelor’s degree in the subject area; an advanced degree is preferred
have experience in teaching at the middle and/or high school levels; experience in teaching multiple science subjects at the high school level is preferred, for example, biology and chemistry or physics and chemistry
have an understanding of teaching science both conceptually and quantitatively
demonstrate strong skills in communication
demonstrate the desire to work collaboratively and in consultation
have a commitment to the education of girls
understand the needs of students at various levels of intellectual and social development

Salary
In 2025-2026, the total salary for this position ranges from $16,605 to $33,528 depending on years of full-time teaching experience (11 weeks; August 18 to November 3)
