Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Lactation Consultant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance and support to new parents in their breastfeeding journey, ensuring both the health of the mother and the infant. This role requires a deep understanding of lactation, medical terminology, and an ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate the breastfeeding needs of nursing parents and infants.
- Provide personalized lactation education and support to new parents.
- Develop tailored feeding plans based on individual assessments.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for mothers and infants.
- Maintain accurate records of consultations, progress, and outcomes.
- Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in lactation consulting.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to lactation, pediatrics, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience in outpatient lactation support preferred.
- Infant oral assessment in tethered oral tissue preferred.
- Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is required or in progress.
- If CLC or CBS mentor to IBCLC must sign an agreement to work upon completion and certification for agreed upon time.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on empathy and support for new parents.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
