POSITION SUMMARY
The Dental Service Representative provides superior quality, competitive value, and outstanding service by giving exceptional administrative support to the dental staff. The Dental Service Representative schedules appointments for dental patients, verifies health histories and demographics.
GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Associate Degree preferred with 1 year(s) of dental office experience OR at least High School Diploma or General Equivalency/Educational Diploma (GED) and 2 years of experience in a dental office.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of electronic Dental record system Knowledge of Dental Terminology
Ability to triage patients via phone and schedule appointments appropriately Ability to use or operate computer, copy machine, typewriter, and fax machine
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and follow Brevard Health Alliance’s confidentiality guidelines
Ability to work well with others
Good organizational and communication skills Ability to speak and understand the English language
Ability to work well in a team environment, remains motivated, is self-directed, and demonstrates initiative
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
General Clerical Duties:
Greet and assists patients in a timely, professional, and courteous manner with a willing and helpful attitude
Answer telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully when dealing with the public, physicians, and outside businesses. Determines sense of urgency and assists caller to the best of ability Takes complete and accurate messages for staff that is not available
Document call, if necessary, in patient file; respond to phone messages in a timely manner Deals with complaints effectively
Assists with area clerical duties such as typing, photocopying, filing, scanning, and faxing documents, dental records, reports, and other materials
Orders and maintains adequate amount of office supplies; maintains documentation of service on office equipment and reports all malfunctions of equipment to the Site Manager Responsible for filing, retrieving materials from existing files, and creating new files when appropriate
Maintains patient flow by checking in patients in a timely manner; verifies that patient address, phone number/contact information is current in the electronic medical record system (EMR)/electronic Dental record system
Checks out all patients as per the terms of their insurance company rules; ensure charge is entered in system and co-pay is collected at time of service
Performs reminder calls for patient appointments and verifies insurance status/financial eligibility of each patient
Assures front door is unlocked/locked at the beginning and end of each day Assists with maintaining a clean work area
Perform other related duties as assigned
