Job Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating specialized foam cutting equipment, including but not limited to Splitter, Horizontal, Vertical, and Reciprocating Saws. This role also requires forklift operation and working collaboratively with other departments to support Acuity Foam Fabrication’s mission and quality policies. The ideal candidate has experience with manufacturing equipment and a strong commitment to precision and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate equipment and produce products to customer requirements per job routing.
- Provide training support for a team of saw operators.
- Efficiently process materials of varying sizes to minimize waste while maintaining quality.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and processes are followed within the department.
- Perform general cleaning maintenance and maintain a safe, clean work area.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift, bend, walk, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Reaching – Extending hands and arms in various directions.
- Grasping – Applying pressure with fingers and palms to handle materials.
- Visual acuity required to determine accuracy, neatness, and quality of work.
Qualifications
- Related experience preferred in manufacturing, carpentry, or maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to convert fractions and decimals and read a ruler in increments of 1/16” and .06”.
- Consistent and timely attendance required.
- Ability to follow instructions and read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
