The Bridge Children's Advocacy Center is a comprehensive, child-focused program that offers a highly effective, one-stop approach to child abuse investigation enabling law enforcement, child protective services professionals, prosecutors, and the medical and mental health communities, to work together to assist child victims in a collaborative and cohesive manner..
The Forensic Interviewer directly works with alleged child victims, their non-offending families, Child Protective Services, Law Enforcement, and Prosecutors, along with other Multi-disciplinary (MDT) members.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field. Experience working with children and knowledge of child abuse and investigative procedures preferred.
- Must lift 50 lbs.
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Must not have any criminal history.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule interviews at The Bridge or any established sites or satellite offices in the outlying counties, taking responsibility of notifying proper authorities of scheduling interviews.
- Conduct interviews of alleged victims of child abuse as well as child witnesses seen at The Bridge and make appropriate referrals for needed services.
- Foster an environment that is sensitive to a child's cognitive, emotional and psychological development, without leading a child in questioning.
- Meet with non-offending family members and MDT members during case assessment, and coordinate execution of forms necessary to the interview process.
- Testify in court regarding interviews as requested.
- Participate in the on-call rotation when after hours on call response is necessary.
- Participate in regular peer review and supervisory review sessions in which job proficiency is assessed.
- Assist with client-intake procedure including making family comfortable while receiving services from The Bridge.
- Stay current of forensic interviewing trends and literature and pursue professional development in the field of child abuse.
- Ensure case follow through by obtaining and recording dispositions from partner agencies.
- Effectively work with others in a team environment and maintain composure in high stress situations.
Along with the responsibilities listed above, Forensic Interviewers are required to participate in Multi-disciplinary team activities and community education presentations.
