Join our team at The Bridge, Inc., a leading provider of substance use treatment and behavioral rehabilitation programs for adolescents aged 12-18. As a Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of adolescents in our programs.
In addition to great benefits, we offer supplemental pay for having a Master's in Education. This is a 12 month, exempt position.
Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
· Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the client
· Collaborate with the treatment team to create a learning plan that meets the needs of the individual client
· Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the clients being served
· Be kind, collaborative, and supportive of the clients being served
· Prepare assignments through live instruction and coordinate online learning activities that meet the individual needs of the client
· Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons and units
· Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or client groups involved
· Strive to implement by instruction and action The Bridge’s philosophy of education and treatment with all instructional goals and objectives
· Follow the course of study provided by the State Department of Education, as well as the scope and sequence approved by The Bridge and the Board of Education.
· Assess the accomplishments of the clients regularly and provide progress reports as required
· Collaborate with supervisor and Etowah County Board of Education to diagnose the learning challenges and disabilities of clients regularly and seek assistance as required
· Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school system policy, and administrative regulation
· Submit attendance and other reports on time
· Make provision to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day required or requested to do so
· Attend staff meetings as required
· Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
· Be familiar with Bridge policies and adhere to the same
· Classroom behavior and correction is the responsibility of the teacher, with support from the recovery aide(s). If a client’s behavior is disrupting the classroom, the program manager and director may be included for assistance
· Maintain ethical behavior, confidentiality of information about clients, and support of the school system
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Meet all federal, state, and local requirements for teacher certification
· A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education; preferred special education, secondary education, or dual certification
· Secure and maintain CPR and First Aid certification within thirty (30) days of the date of hire
· Ability to creatively, supportively, and ethically work with clients and staff in the classroom setting in a manner that supports the overall clinical effectiveness of the residential program
· Experience and expertise in Microsoft Office applications, basic hardware and software troubleshooting, and the technology needed to use PowerSchool and various online educational platforms
· Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
