What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Captain position at The Bridgewater Club LLC?
Position Summary:
Directly reports to the Catering Manager. This individual is an active team member that will implement detailed preparation, creatively stage areas and provide memorable experiences through special events. Primary responsibilities of this position will include providing leadership and motivation to the banquet team and following detailed directions of the Catering Manager and Catering Director. This role will assist the Catering Manager in service of all group, social, banquet, food, and beverage events. Work with Catering Manager and Catering and Events Director to help ensure that events are planned, managed, and executed to the highest standard. Banquets and Special Events are hosted in both indoor and outdoor spaces, providing a wide variety of experiences. Events include weddings, member events, graduations, golf tournaments, club events, corporate meetings, baby/bridal showers, concerts, fundraisers, specialty dinners, and graduations, and more.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Assist in developing and communicating a strategy for banquets that is aligned with the property and brand standards
- Establish goals to optimize performance and hold the banquet team accountable for desired outcomes
- Review and inspect function rooms and displays for conformance to the Club’s standard and client requirements
- Willingness to cross train to be able to step in to support the team as needed to fully execute events
- Optimize the impact of catering operations on the overall success of an event and ensure activities maximize guest satisfaction
- Act as a liaison to the culinary team
- Assist Catering Manager and actively participate in the servicing of events
- Assist Catering Manager in ensuring that proper controls are place and established and followed by all team members
- Follow the directions set forth on the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and implement the directions set forth
- Attend staff and planning meetings as requested
- Responsible for sanitation in and around spaces
- Assist team in developing lasting relationships with groups, guests, and patrons to secure repeat business
- Provide inspirational leadership to ensure the Bridgewater Club’s Vision, Mission and Core values are upheld
- Plan, assign, and direct work to team members
- Provide guidance and direction to subordinates through coaching and support.
Qualifications/Skills Required:
- A high school degree or GED; 2 years of experience in a comparable position and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Familiar with banquet operations and Food and beverage; demonstrated strong leadership skills; and proven achievements in optimizing guest and team member engagement
- Ability to obtain any and all required licenses or certificates
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Flexibility to meet the demands of club operations
- Ability to identify and solve problems
- Enjoys being a part of a team
- Knowledgeable of laws of liquor service
- Must be neat, clean, in uniform and well-groomed at all times
Demands:
