Summary:
Bridgewater’s Camp Counselor's main role is to help campers have a fun and safe camp experience every day! Bridgewater’s camp is an 9-week camp with different themes each week. Camp Counselors spend the summer working with kids from ages 3 -10 years old, engaging in a range of fun games, activities, crafts, swimming, and tennis. A summer to remember for campers and counselors alike!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Group supervision of campers with attention to all of the following: program, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, safety, routine duties, character and skill development.
- Promote and encourage camper participation in all activities and projects.
- Teach and/or assist with camp programs.
- Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, and relationships with other staff that serve as a beneficial model to campers.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
- Reporting and recording details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to camp coordinator, Fitness Operations Director, parents, and camp staff.
- Memorizing all emergency procedures and enforcing camp rules.
- Work with the camp coordinator, other camp staff and the Fitness Operations Director to address any issues pertaining to the facilities, programs, or campers.
- Participating in staff meetings.
- Be a problem solver. Identify issues, compile possible solutions, using good judgment decide and solve the problem.
- Be punctual and arrive to work on time, as scheduled.
- Always help to maintain a safe environment while allowing for a fun atmosphere.
- Report any unsafe conditions or equipment to Camp Coordinator or the Fitness Operations Director
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Must have experience working with kids of all ages, ideal candidates will have experience in camps or childcare.
- Exceptional organizational, planning skills and detail oriented.
- Problem Solver & Self-Starter
- Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service.
- Ability to perform job duties with limited supervision/direction after training has been completed.
- Must produce a high quality of product/work and remain focused in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.
- High level of responsibility and accountability.
- Upbeat, engaging personality.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification (Child, Infant and Adult) preferred but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Swimming daily.
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Walk up and down 3 flights of stairs at a time.
- Spend up to 8 hours outside in direct sunlight, humidity and heat.
- Physical ability to support the weight of children ages 3 -10 years of age
Salary : $14 - $16
