The BridgeWay is currently seeking a Director of Dietary Services to join our team!
The Director of Dietary Services directs and administers the cleaning and service of all areas of the hospital, disinfecting areas by scrubbing or spraying and performs a variety of environmental service duties in order to maintain orderly, clean, and sanitary conditions. Directs and organizes laundry and linen operations to provide linen service to all departments in he hospital in a timely, sanitary manner. Provides leadership and supervision to housekeepers.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Licenses or Certifications:
- CPR and Handle with Care to be obtained within three (3) weeks of date of hire.
Total education, vocational training and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with major studies in food and nutrition and/or Certified Dietary Manager; minimum one year of work experience in a facility setting with clinical responsibilities preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Directs the daily food service operation to ensure the timely preparation and serving of food is in a safe and sanitary environment.
- Coordinates and integrates the nutritional care and food service aspects of the department on a daily basis.
- Provides leadership for staff; promotes an environment in which food service staff can work cooperatively toward objectives.
- Makes sound decisions within range of expectations for the job.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures in accordance with State Health Department, JCAHO, and OSHA standards and regulations.
- Develops and implements a Quality Improvement Plan according to JACHO standards.
- Develops and implements a Quality Control Plan that monitors safety and sanitary practices of food Service employees.
- Conducts a monthly sanitation and safety audit, submits data to Infection Control RN, Dietitian and Director of Maintenance in a timely manner.
- Reviews monthly patient questionnaires, in conjunction with administration, that measure the care and services the department provides to patients.
- Conducts CQI audits of nutritional care practices as directed by the dietitian.
- Implements actions(s) or change(s) as indicated from Quality Improvement Audits, Quality Control audits, Menu audits and patient questionnaires to maintain or improve quality care and service to patients.
- Submits a report concerning Quality Improvement audits, Quality Control Audits, menu audits, and patient Questionnaires to the Quality Improvement Council according to the policy manual.
- Monitors labor usage and supply expenses daily to achieve operating goals.
- Achieves operating goals as indicated on monthly financial reports.
- Prepares work schedules no later than seven days prior to implementation to ensure adequate staffing.
- Accurately assess employee time sheets as compared to schedule.
- Employs and maintains a cohesive team of food service employees to achieve quality service.
- Implements Personnel policies during the hiring process.
- Documents and completes annual reviews, probation reviews, regarding job performance with each Food service employee with in the required time frame.
- Implements disciplinary and terminations procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook.
- Conducts a monthly department meeting that includes relevant feedback from hospital meetings, findings from Quality Improvement audits, Quality Control Audits and Patient Questionnaires.
- Plans and conducts a monthly in-service education for food service personnel.
- Conducts orientation and directs the training of newly employed food service employees as stated in the policy menu.
- Developed and implements in conjunction with the dietitian a menu that is acceptable to patients and hospital staff and that meets guidelines as stated in the policy manual.
- Implements purchasing procedures as stated in the policy manual.
- Completes end of the month reports and submits data to administration in a timely manner.
- Reports equipment repair needs to maintenance department as stated in the policy and procedure manual and State Health Department.
- Maintains equipment repair log.
- Maintains necessary reports to effectively operate the department.
- Acts as liaison between medical staff, patients, and the food service department on a daily basis.
- Visits patients with nutritional care needs as directed by the dietitian.
- Documents pertinent information in the patient’s medical record according to hospital policy, as directed by the dietitian.I
- nstructs patients/family on diet as directed by the dietitian.Attends hospital meetings routinely, as required.
- Maintains and updates job knowledge by attending at least one educational seminar or its equivalent, per year.
- Maintains a current membership to the Dietary Managers Association.
