What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Teacher (Grades 5-8) position at The Brilliance School?
The teacher is responsible for presenting and explaining learning materials and educating students on standards-aligned subject matter for their grade and individualized learning plans. The teacher will also be responsible for maintaining and managing their classrooms and taking disciplinary action when needed. In order to educate their class and ensure success, teachers should be innovative team members who are passionate about transforming traditional approaches to educating scholars, performing as leaders, and inspiring as people, while seeking to set a new standard for what is possible for children.

Selected Responsibilities:
- Deliver dynamic lessons that include opportunities for enrichment and intervention as needed.
- Implement standards-based lessons that drive scholars to meet and exceed academic expectations.
- Help set ambitious and measurable goals for scholars that are rooted in rigor and engagement and to work with the class to help them attain these goals.
- Demonstrate the utmost respect for scholars and share a relentless commitment to their academic and personal growth.
- Keep track of role and ensure scholars are attending and participating in class, communicating with families to problem-solve for non-participation.
- Keep an organized and orderly learning environment that promotes creativity and learning.
- Create joyous environments where scholars come to school every day.
- Provide acute attention to detail and the importance of joy demonstrated in a classroom environment.
- Monitor & communicate scholar performance by grading and using multiple forms of assessment (giving tests, quizzes, projects, using running records, etc.)
- Embrace technology and use data to drive instructional decisions and plans, in order to respond to scholar’s needs more effectively, construct new teaching methods, and advance skill sets faster.
- Develop powerful, personal relationships and establish robust learning communities that include scholars, parents, and colleagues.

- Welcome, and act upon critical feedback with a solutions-oriented approach.
- Participate in professional development sessions and stay up to date with current teaching methods, practices, and any new knowledge in your field.

- Set up and lead parent-teacher conferences, literacy nights, and title events in conjunction with the school administration.

Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
- Highly qualified teacher certification
- Experience working in diverse, low-income communities preferred

Pay: $35,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
