Job Title: Mainframe IMS DB2 DBA
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 6 Months Contract
Roles & Responsibilities:
Mainframe DB2 / IMS DB DBA
Primary Skill
- Hands on working operations experience with mainframe DB2 database system administration , proficiency with IMS database desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, implement, test, tune DB2, and IMS DB and DC system
- Maintain/tune backup-recovery processes for DB2, and IMS DR
- Administer IMS system using consoles, JCL, DL/I, backup, reorg
- Manage and maintain IBM DB2 databases, ensuring their availability, security, and performance
- Responsible for SDLC, PSB generation, copybooks, templates, Message Format Service (MFS) DBRC and IMS control/message regions
- Work with DB monitoring tools
- Hands-on knowledge of SMP/E to install, maintain, test, and configure base IMS system libraries
- Configure and maintain IMS data sharing across multiple Sysplex environments
- Manage and maintain IBM IMS databases, ensuring their availability, security, and performance
- Proficient skills in z/OS, CICS, JCL, CLIST/REXX
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure database solutions are integrated with applications
- Perform database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures
- Monitor database performance and tune as necessary to optimize performance
- Experienced in Service Management, Service Delivery, Incident Response, Problem Management, and Change Management to support a live production environment 24*7
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience as an IBM DB2, and IMS DB System Administrator or in a similar role, working with IBM IMS database architecture, administration, and performance tuning.
- Minimum 8 years of SMP/E experience including Installation, maintaining, and configuring base DB2 and IMS system libraries.
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science
