Qualifications and Detail about the Position

Broad Function

The Site Manager reports directly to the Project Manager or General Manager on supporting and growing the business by coordinating all site construction activities and supervising all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. The position ensures all assigned projects are delivered safely, consistently, and effectively, and are profitably managed and compliant. The Site Manager helps build the Brock brand by providing world class service quality to all stakeholders.


Essential Functions

  • Promote, demonstrate, and instill Brock’s Bsafe and Bbest culture in all aspects of the business.
  • Responsible for site safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Ensure proper planning and scheduling of resources, monitoring, and taking corrective actions.
  • Assist Project Manager in developing and implementing project Execution Plan, Quality Control Plan, and Site Safety Plan.
  • Own the planning and implementation of a project by executing detailed project plans, including timelines, scheduling, logistics, purchasing, and training plans.
  • Build strong cross-functional operating partnerships across the organization (as defined in role success profile).
  • Ability to understand the contract and successfully initiate change orders.
  • Manage changes to project scope through a defined change management process.
  • Effectively resolve customer issues/discrepancies.
  • Ensure that all appropriate authorizations and approvals are in place; ensure that the job site is free of hazards and/or dangerous conditions prior to the commencement of any work.
  • Assist in quoting and performing preliminary job walks for defined projects.
  • Responsible for the collection and ownership of complete project and site data in coordination with Project Controls.
  • Develop and build sales relationships within both Brock and the customer’s organization.
  • Responsible for leveraging opportunities to cross-sell Brock’s product and service offerings.
  • Maintain communication with Project Manager and Business Development to ensure customers’ needs are met.
  • Identify all operations aspects of the job including labor, equipment, consumables, and materials along with any subcontract requirements.
  • Coordinate with Asset Management and Customer on planning/scheduling, and determining materials & manpower demands for defined projects.
  • Work with Sales and Estimating to transition the job from sales to operations utilizing the Healthy Start process.
  • Accountable for completion of assigned jobs to PM and customer satisfaction within defined parameters and schedules.
  • Responsible for job cost management and profitability for assigned projects, including daily tracking and reporting for billable and non-billable activities.
  • Identify appropriate KPIs based on customer and PM requirements; work with project controls to ensure that the site is tracking the proper data; take corrective action as required.
  • Audit ongoing operations and identify opportunities for field efficiencies and standardization of methods to improve margins
  • Manage outsourced services within project constraints.
  • Follow Brock’s procurement process and manage vendor relationships.
  • Manage site supervision and ensure scope, job efficiency, and productivity are met.
  • Conduct effective performance evaluations and mentor site, supervision, and craft employees.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and ensure that all site personnel receive appropriate training.
  • Determine labor requirements and recruit and hire talented craft personnel within budget constraints.
  • Challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
  • Ensure all current personnel policies and procedures are implemented and compliant.
  • Work closely with Regional HR Manager to resolve all employee issues fairly and equitably.
  • Stay current on industry trends and work practices; participate in continuing education opportunities.
  • Attend any site meeting where information is exchanged relating to Brock scope work.
  • Don’t wait to be invited to meetings; be proactive and seek out opportunities to become involved.
  • All Client/Brock incident reporting policies are met or exceeded.
  • Responsible for comparing the safety manual's stated policies to industry and regulatory standards, and for making recommendations to enhance BSL's stated policies
  • Maintain direct wage profile, equipment expenditures, third party markup structure, and control non-billable costs for the account.
  • Maintain active involvement in local ABC chapters, in client sponsored activities, and in the community surrounding the jobsite

  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills, including strong leadership skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree, 3 years of craft supervision experience, or 10 years of craft experience.
  • Advanced craft or project certifications desirable (NACE, NCCER, PMP, PMI, etc.).
  • Knowledge of employment practices (hiring and termination; discipline, attendance, employment regulations, pay practices, etc.).

Working Conditions:

ORIENTATION - Must be able to successfully pass Brock and/or Safety Council Site Specific Orientation requirements.

HEAVY WORK - Lifting up to 50 pounds of force from the floor to the waist and 35 pounds of force from the waist to above shoulder.

CLIMBING - Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like, to elevations in excess of 100 feet, to maintain three-point contact at all times.

LADDERS - Using vertical ladders Frequently up to 100 feet - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

STAIRS & RAMPS - Using stairs or ramps: Occasionally up to 100 feet - Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.

BALANCING - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, on unprotected elevated surfaces using fall protection equipment; or maintaining body equilibrium when performing scaffold construction at elevations using fall protection equipment. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

STOOPING - Bending body downward and forward by bending at the waist, requiring full use of the leg and back muscles on a repetitive basis. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

KNEELING - Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. Occasionally - Activity exists up to 40% of the work shift.

CROUCHING - Bending the body downward and forward by bending legs and waist. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

REACHING - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in order to receive materials from ground level weighing up to 50 pounds as it is being passed and 35 pounds from overhead. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

GRIPPING - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands to receive materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling. Frequently - Activity exists up to 60% of the work shift.

VISION - Have 20/40 vision with or without correction in at least one eye.

HEARING - Must be able to hear a forced whispered voice in one ear, the better ear, at not less than five feet with or without the use of a hearing aid.

WEATHER EXPOSURE - Exposure to outside atmospheric conditions. Conditions can range from -10 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Constantly - Condition exists in excess of 60% of the work shift.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT - Must be able to properly do all required personal protective equipment for the requirements of the job for up to the entire work shift.

INSULATION TOOLS - Use Insulation tools commonly associated with type or work.
