Job Description
MS/US Theater Teacher at The Brook Hill School reports to the Arts Director and is responsible for the proper care of the students, subject matter, and equipment under their purview using a Christian worldview. Brook Hill teachers are expected to support one another and work together toward an excellent overall academic program.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish and adjust course outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and school goals; modify plans on the basis of student-driven data through assessments and feedback.
- Convey information to students by using language concepts, examples, demonstrations, and teaching aids, while integrating technology effectively.
- Maintain student-learning results by providing instructional feedback, coaching, and counseling to provide opportunities for student growth.
- Maintain records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance, and behavior.
- Manage and create an intentionally inviting classroom.
- Guide students’ personal and social development by establishing rules and procedures.
- Consistently partner and communicate with parents in the shared desire of student growth and success by providing academic information, suggesting educational and social resources, and addressing parents’ concerns.
- Engage with the broader school community to promote the theater program and cultivate support for student performances.
- Continue professional and technical growth by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Participate in the broader ministry of Brook Hill by contributing time, talent and treasure beyond assigned role and responsibilities.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Lead, direct, and coordinate curricular and extracurricular theater productions, including plays, musicals, and other performances.
- Coordinate rehearsals, production schedules, and technical elements, collaborating with students, staff, and volunteers.
