Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse performs responsibilities that are supportive and/or restorative under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. Provides nursing care to an assigned group of patients, and administers medications and/or treatments upon demonstration of ability in accordance with policy of the Hospital.
Responsibilities
Provides direct patient care:
- Performs tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Registered Nurse as related to:
- Hygiene and physical comfort
- Medical treatments and selected nursing interventions
- Nutritional needs
- Ambulation and exercise
- Elimination
- Patient safety
- Administraters medication as assigned
- Performs CPR
- Takes vitals
- Transports patients
- Prepares patients for tests and procedures
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of accredited nursing program(s).
Experience:
- Demonstrates competence and experience in nursing within the limits of preparation and legal scope of practice.
Licenses, Certifications:
- Licensed and currently registered as a Practical Nurse in NYS.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, walking throughout the working day.
- Position will be required to stoops, bends, lifts, carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
