Responsibilities/Duties
The Landscape Maintenance Crew Member is responsible for providing the labor necessary to complete tasks such as mowing and edging of lawns, pruning trees and shrubs, planting flowers, watering lawns, trees, and plants; raking and disposing of leaves and other yard waste; and planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- General Labor: Perform tasks including planting, flower care, string trimming, pruning, mowing, edging, mulching, weeding, chemical application, and trash pickup.
- Task Management: Take direction from the crew leader and complete additional tasks as assigned.
- Training: Assist in the training of co-workers.
- Quality Standards: Uphold and set the standards for a quality company image that encourages repeat business.
- Customer Service: Emphasize the importance of customer service to coworkers.
- Communication: Communicate any landscape management concerns or problems to the Crew Leader and effectively interact with other coworkers to function as a team.
- Winter Duties: Assist with snow removal during the winter months as business needs dictate.
- Equipment Maintenance: Participate in equipment maintenance.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other tasks as assigned by the crew leader, supervisor, and/or manager.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Outdoor Work: Primarily performed outdoors during all seasons.
- Weather Exposure: Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including inclement weather (rain, snow, heat, or cold).
- Noise Levels: The work environment typically has moderate noise levels. Hearing protection is required for duties involving equipment operation with elevated noise levels.
- Chemical Exposure: Duties may expose the individual to chemicals and fertilizers.
Schedule
- Peak Season Hours: Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm (40-55 hours per week) during our peak season (approximately April to November). Saturday hours as needed.
- Position Type: This is a Full-time Seasonal position.
- Overtime: Occasional overtime as workload dictates.
- Winter Hours: Hours vary in winter months (approximately December through March) based on snow removal needs.
Skills You Need
- Landscaping Skills: Previous experience with or ability to learn effective landscaping skills and techniques.
- Driver’s License: A valid Driver’s License is required.
- Equipment Operation: Previous experience operating basic landscape equipment (Mowers, Trimmers, Edgers) is helpful but not required.
- Plant Knowledge: Knowledge of trees, shrubs, and other landscape products is helpful but not required.
- Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
