What You Will Be Doing
The Lawn/Weeding Applicator is responsible for applying pesticides and fertilizers to turf and ornamental plant beds in order to control pests and maintain a beautiful landscape for our customers.
- Pesticide & Fertilizer Application: Apply pesticide treatments and fertilizers to ornamental beds and turf areas using both motorized and non-motorized equipment in accordance with regulations.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform minor mechanical cleaning and fluid checks on pesticide application equipment as needed.
- Job Reporting: Accurately report job completion and progress to the supervisor.
- Record Keeping & Compliance: Complete pesticide application records and post required signage per company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Equipment Calibration: Work with a supervisor to calibrate spreaders and sprayers to ensure accurate application rates.
- Troubleshooting & Communication: Identify and resolve issues while maintaining clear communication with supervisors, customers, and coworkers as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety guidelines, ensuring the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- General Landscape Maintenance: Assist with planting, flower care, pruning, mowing, edging, mulching, and general site cleanup as needed.
- Team Training & Development: Provide training and guidance to co-workers to improve skill levels and efficiency.
- Professionalism & Customer Engagement: Uphold a quality company image, fostering repeat business and customer satisfaction.
- Snow Removal Support: Assist with snow removal operations during the winter months as business demands.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by crew leader, supervisor, or manager.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Outdoor Work Environment: Majority of work is performed outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions.
- Weather Exposure: Regular exposure to rain, snow, heat, and cold, requiring appropriate protective gear.
- Chemical Handling: Potential exposure to chemicals and fertilizers, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
- Noise Levels: Work environment has a moderate noise level; hearing protection is required when operating certain equipment.
- Physical Demands: Occasionally required to carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
What Skills Do You Need?
- Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Certification Requirement: Ability to obtain a Category 3.0 Turf and Landscape Certification within 30 days of employment.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with trees, shrubs, and landscape products is helpful but not required.
- Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
Schedule
- Peak Season Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (40-55 hours per week) from April to November. Saturday hours as needed.
- Employment Type: Full-time Seasonal position.
- Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required based on workload.
- Winter Hours: Vary between December and March, primarily based on snow removal needs
