The Bryn Mawr School seeks a summer upper school Computer Science teacher to teach one section of Intro to Computer Science from June 12 - June 28. The online class meets from 8:00 am to noon every Monday through Friday, and is equivalent to our semester Introduction to Computer Science class. This course has been taught in our summer session for several years and has a well-established curriculum. Responsibilities include planning and implementing the details of each class day, creating and grading assessments, and providing feedback to the students and families.
This project based course examines computers and computing as they relate to the emerging technologies of today's world. Students will learn to think algorithmically and methodically to solve problems and write efficient programs. They will learn foundational programming concepts in Python, and they will program for hardware in the C language using Arduino microcontrollers. Students will apply these skills to tangible projects throughout the semester.
