PAY RATE: $30
HOURS & DAYS: M-F , 8-5PM
LOCATION: HAMPTON, VA
OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE
As an HVAC Technician, you’ll keep things cool (and warm!) by expertly repairing, maintaining, and upgrading HVAC systems. From diagnosing equipment issues to ensuring everything’s in top shape, you’ll play a key role in keeping our systems running smoothly — all while working alongside a talented team and ensuring the job site is fully equipped for success!
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units. Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.
Performing preventive maintenance on equipment
Possess the ability to be able to work independently and as a team member
Workdays and schedules are generally routine, however are subject to change. Be prepared/available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers.
Following all safety requirements including Lockout/Tagout and use of appropriate PPE
Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle.
Keeping appropriate records, including the Refrigerant Inventory and Usage Report
Document all installed equipment: make, model, serial number, type of fuel, necessary test measurements, and pictures as necessary.
Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to management what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
Participate in company provided training opportunities on latest industry technologies.
Identify and report to management potential opportunities for additional business (newer system, service contracts, and additional services).
Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Facility Services Department.
Receive and complete work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Certificate degree or two-year degree from a trade or community college in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: CFC certification (Universal or Type II). Valid driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE: Requires one to three years’ experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting HVAC service issues.
SKILLS: Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and manuals. Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift / move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. including AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses. The noise level is usually moderate.
