We're seeking a highly motivated Accountant to provide key financial insights and analysis that will directly influence our organization's financial health and support its mission. About the Role:
As an Site Specific Accountant, you'll be a vital partner to our educational institutions, providing detailed financial analysis and business insights. You will work closely with school administrators and staff, conduct performance reviews, analyze operational costs for process improvement opportunities, and contribute to financial planning. Your accurate and insightful analysis will empower the organization to make informed strategic decisions, benchmark performance, identify growth potential, and ensure long-term sustainability and financial stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Stewardship: Oversee and coordinate accounting activities for assigned educational institutions, ensuring the integrity of financial statements, managing internal audits, and facilitating the annual budgeting and planning process. Provide ongoing forecasting and business analysis.
Operational Insight: Conduct in-depth monthly analysis of key programs, student enrollment, and operational expenses.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor account reconciliations and fund balances, recommending improvements to align with best accounting practices and regulatory requirements. Oversee the monthly close process, issue financial reports, and perform detailed variance analysis.
Compliance & Reporting: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant education-related financial regulations and reporting requirements. Ensure compliance in all financial activities.
Collaboration & Support: Provide direct and indirect support to school administrators and staff on financial matters, assist with accounts receivable activities, and support annual financial audits.
Strategic Contribution: Develop, analyze, and communicate key financial metrics to leadership teams, contributing to resource allocation and strategic planning. Consolidate and develop annual operating budgets, update budgets based on program changes, and perform forecast modeling.
Process Improvement: Process purchase orders, reimbursements, invoices, and journal entries. Prepare monthly forecasts, projections, and closing notes. Conduct ad-hoc reporting and research. Support procurement activities.
Specific Duties:
Input and review financial data, including budget tracking and expense reports.
Collaborate with school staff on budget development and monitoring.
Perform monthly financial analysis and provide month-end reporting.
Assist with grant accounting and reporting (if applicable).
Collaborate with leadership on long-term financial planning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, or Accounting required.
Significant experience in an analytical Finance, Accounting, or Audit role, preferably within the education sector.
Demonstrated experience in Financial analysis.
Knowledge of fund accounting is a plus.
Experience with relevant education-related financial regulations and reporting requirements is a plus.
Strong understanding of statistical and financial analysis methodologies and software.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., [Specify any relevant ERP systems used]) and BI platforms.
