What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metering and Relay Technician position at The Building People Career Center?
The Building People, LLC, has a need for a full-time Metering and Relay Technician supporting the Protection and Communication Maintenance Division for the Western Area Power Administration, Desert Southwest Regional Office. The employee will provide technical support services and perform the following duties and tasks:
- Performs work as required on power system substation equipment
- Performs a variety of jobs concerned with the maintenance and repair of power system metering, control and protective relay equipment
- Maintains, repairs and tests metering equipment, including watt hour meters, paper and magnetic tape digital demand recorders, switchboard recorders and indicating meters of all types
- Maintains, repairs and tests control equipment including switchboard devices used in controlling substation circuit breakers, motors, capacitor banks and compressors
- Maintains, repairs and tests protective equipment including current, voltage, differential, reclosing timing, auxiliary, ground detection and complex impedance relays of both the electromechanical and solid state types
- Participates in the check-out and placing in service of new facilities and additions to existing facilities
