Job description

The Janitor / Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing all-purpose cleaning and light maintenance of assigned areas in the Cafe building. The assigned areas could be in any or all areas of the building, including but not limited to dining room, kitchen, storeroom, coolers, freezers or other areas of the facility. Exact tasks of janitorial / maintenance positions are not definite, consequently, the selected individual must be flexible in performing assigned duties as assigned by a Supervisor as mentioned below.

Physical Requirements and Demands

Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing, and frequently lift and / or moving a minimum of 30 lbs. of office and facilities equipment, trash and other materials. Must possess the ability to safely use provided equipment related to the job and responsibilities. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus (some accommodations may be provided).

The physical demands of the position described herein are mentioned as a representative of the requirements that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of the Janitor / Maintenance Technician, the employee may occasionally or regularly be required to perform the following repetitive movements :

Sitting, walking, standing, bending (neck), bending waist), squatting, climbing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, twisting (neck), twisting (waist), and talking or hearing.

Repetitive use of hands, arms and fingers are required for :

Simple grasping of objects / tools

Use hands to finger to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

Fine manipulation

Pushing

Pulling

Reaching (above and or below shoulder level with hands and arms)

Lifting and Carrying object(s), picking up objects from floor, table, and shelves overhead or distance.

Working around equipment and machinery

Walking on uneven ground

Exposure to dust, fumes, cleaning products, and light noise

Working at heights

Working with biohazards such us :

Garbage

Food Waste / Trash

Biohazards found in the cleaning of restrooms

Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 25 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects

Indoor / outdoor work environment with exposure to weather extremes.

Qualifications

High School diploma or higher;

Fast food or retail experience is preferred;

Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask;

Acceptable verbal English communication skills;

Excellent work ethic and teamwork concepts;

Enforce Health Department Regulations;

Available to work at least 20 hours a week; weekend and holiday availability strongly preferred.
