Lead Teacher: Pre-Teach Math This Summer with The Calculus Project
(Algebra, Algebra II/Geometry, Algebra 2/Trig, teachers needed)
LOCATION/Dates:Boston University Campus, 7/28 - 8/15/2025
CONTENT:Pre-Teach math to middle or high school students
RATE: $54.00/hour (for 5 hours/day, 5 days/week over three weeks)
HOURS:9am - 2pm daily
About TCP
The mission of The Calculus Project is to use research-supported strategies to increase the representation and success of Black, Hispanic and low-income students in advanced mathematics. There are seven distinct components that support students year-round, and one of these is pre-teaching in the summer.
About the Position
Teachers who thrive at TCP love kids, are dedicated to their craft, embrace feedback, and constantly seek to build connections. As a summer teacher you will have 20-25 students and you will pre-teach the skills and concepts that they will be learning in the first semester in the fall. You will have a partner teacher as well as student peer teachers to support your work. In addition to teaching mathematics you will chaperone students on field trips and will teach SEL activities planned by TCP.
Responsibilities
Plan and implement math curriculum with middle or high school students
Maintain regular communication with supervisor and parents regarding student progress
Develop formative and summative measurement tools to evaluate student progression
Attend a paid workshop on planning and developing curricula and lessons
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Teaching experience and experience working with adolescents preferred
Experience working effectively with students and staff of various cultures and linguistic backgrounds
Creativity and ability to foster curiosity and excitement about learning mathematics
